Session 3: The Heart Center
In this session we look at the Heart center and its 3 layers: the physical heart, the emotional heart and the spiritual heart. Session 4: The Body Center Part 1
In this session we will learn about our Autonomic Nervous System from a Polyvagal Theory viewpoint. We will learn how each type responds to stress and some typical stress triggers. We will map our own system, tuning into the 3 centers when a stressful situation is called to mind. We will also learn some "Vagus Nerve Techniques" to quickly help the nervous system return to a calm and connected place.

Session 5: The Body Center Part 2
In this session, we continue our exploration of the body center by looking at what each Enneagram type avoids. The avoidances are born from an overwhelming experience in childhood. The intelligence of the nervous system moves to a coping strategy that contains the overwhelm so it maintains the equilibrium of the system. This energy however never completed itself, is contained in the body and continues to inform how we respond to life. It is like an outdated software program running in the background influencing our perceptions, relationships, emotions, and leads to reactivity. We will learn how to work with the Law of 3, bringing the polarities of each type together so we can free that energy to be expressed as our Essence. A guided practice will give us tools and resources to stay present to the hidden avoidance so it can be felt and encountered with compassion and curiosity without re-triggering the overwhelm in our nervous systems.

Protected: Building a Bridge from Ego to Essence: A Holistic Approach to the Enneagram and Embodying Your True Self

In this session we looked at the Heart Center types as 3 ways we seek validation and self-worth from outside of ourselves. Our identity either as a separate self or as Essence or a Child of God is very much felt in the heart center. Clues we are caught in the separate self identity is the seeking for approval and love through our connections and the disappointment or sadness of rejection when our strategies don’t work. We experience a real fear of loss of connection and fear of feeling the sadness/grief that goes with it. If we make space for that sadness to move through we will find that the support and love we are looking for is within us. By reconnecting with our needs, our true feelings and our accepting our ordinary authenticity, we reclaim altruism, the wisdom of accomplishing and our connection with the creative Source of all. Wow!

Being fully present to ourselves, other people and the world keeps us anchored in our Essence or True Self. Please find a handout for an exercise you can practice keeping some awareness within yourself while fully present with another. You can include yourself in your circle of care and your experience of the flow of life through you.

Ask yourself this week: How do I relate to my own heart? How can I practice the art of self-remembering more often by simply being with my heart – tending and befriending the very life given to me by the Creator? This is a sacred practice of love and healing.
