Go Beyond Your Enneagram Type – discover the Enneagram as a path of resilience, balance and embodiment of our Essence.
This course will be starting late February and consist of eight 90 minute sessions on zoom. Day and time to be determined by interested participants.
Our personality patterns develop at a very young age with the goal of keeping us safe, loved and accepted. These defensive survival strategies become ingrained in our Enneagram type structure, a.k.a. our personality. But with time, the very thing we relied on for safety, becomes an obstacle to experiencing life as it actually is and embodying our True Self or Essence.
Our Essence is what is most essential and true about us. Our Essence is how Spirit or Love shines through us as qualities such as goodness, altruism, effectiveness, creativity, wisdom, courage, joy, empowerment, and peace. The Enneagram maps out these nine archetypal energies that are within each of us with our type naturally expressing one in particular.
“Anchored in the Centers” refers to a state of being firmly grounded in one’s inner self—specifically by optimizing and aligning the 3 centers; the mind, body, and heart—to maintain balance and resilience amidst life’s chaos. By fostering this internal anchor, you create a “safe harbor” within, which reduces stress, fosters emotional regulation, and allows your authentic self to emerge. This workshop aims to give you knowledge, experience and practices that will help you embody more of that calm, resilient authentic self, your Essence.
The following is what you can expect to learn in this 8 week program:
- Session 1 – Mapping the Territory: Learn about where your Enneagram type comes from, the Triune brain and the 3 centers. Learn practices to foster grounded presence.
- Session 2- The Head Center: Learn about both the false beliefs and higher ideals of each type. Our guided practice will be on cultivating gifts of the head center including awareness (the inner observer).
- Session 3- The Heart Center: Explore the “vices and virtues” of each type. Learn to tap into the gifts of the heart center through a self-compassion practice and learn how the heart can create coherence or harmony as it is a unifying and healing force.
- Session 4 – The Body Center Part 1: Learn about the nervous system from a Polyvagal, trauma informed lens and how your type responds to stress. Learn ways to manage stress for your type and vagus nerve techniques to help you find calm.
- Session 5 – Body Center Part 2: Learn about the avoidances and blind spots of each type. Tap into the gifts of the body center to learn somatic practices to be with difficult emotions such as anger, sadness and fear.
- Session 6 – Working with the Head Center Types: Learn how fear ignites the over active mind. Learn more about types 5, 6, and 7 and ways to neutralize the fear and anxiety through heart and somatic or body based practices.
- Session 7 – Working with the Heart Center Types: We will look at our tendency to seek self-worth outside of ourself. Learn more about types 2, 3, and 4. Practice embodying your authentic essential self while allowing and embracing all the emotions in the heart center.
- Session 8: Working with Body Center Types: We will look at the 3 ways we feel or avoid anger through learning more about types 8, 9 and 1. Learn healthy ways to set boundaries, and how to befriend and take care of our anger and frustration.
- Bonus Integration session: A one hour session for a guided integration practice and Q & A
Key Components included in the 90 minute online sessions:
- Experiential learning: A balance of learning, guided practices, (meditation, movement and other somatic practices) and working in small groups or pairs.
- Healing and transformation: Working with our old patterns requires tenderness, compassion and a willingness to move beyond intellectualizing and learn to turn within to feel what has been avoided in the past. This frees up so much of our life force energy!
- Tools for daily life: Participants will be given recorded practices and handouts to encourage daily practice. The more time spent with the daily practices and self-reflection, the more you will get out of the workshop.

Prerequisites: It would be helpful to know your type and have an introductory level of knowledge about the Enneagram as I will not be covering the basics in this course.
If you want to know your Enneagram type prior to the class I recommend the WEPPS or the RHETI.
